CROCK POT LASAGNA! - recipe and step by step.

Yesterday I made crock pot lasagna. It's so easy. If you have a slow cooker, I highly recommend serving it for dinner one night.

What you will need:
  • slow cooker/crock pot
  • skillet (for browning beef)
  • (I used) 1 lb of hamburger (served 3 children and 3 adults)
  • a 24 oz can of spaghetti sauce (we used mushroom - and I dislike mushrooms)
  • mozzarella cheese
  • cheddar cheese
  • various seasonings (optional)
  • cooking utensils - of course.
  • uncooked lasagna noodles

Doesn't it look so delicious? Oh. It was SO good.

If you google "crock pot lasagna" you'll find yourself plenty of recipes. I clicked through a few and threw my own together. Here's what I did if you are curious.
  1. I browned a lb of beef - added some of my personal favorite seasonings (garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, cumin) and drained the beef.
  2. After that I added a 24 oz of can of sauce (all I had was mushroom, and went with it) to the beef.
  3. I forgot to lightly grease my crock pot with vegetable oil, so I may want to add that in.
  4. First I spread a layer of the beef and sauce mixture on the bottom of the slow cooker.
  5. I then took UNCOOKED lasagna noodles and made a layer of them (breaking them to fit).
  6. Another layer of the meat and sauce, topped with a layer of mozzarella cheese (to my liking).
  7. Then I added another layer of the lasagna noodles, this was my last layer of noodles, but you could top them even higher if you have a better sauce to noodle ratio.
  8. Then a layer of the meat and sauce and shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar.
  9. Cook on LOW for about 4 hours. Mine did not take the whole four hours, maybe because I have a larger slow cooker. I'd advise checking the progress after 2 - 3 hours.
  10. When it's all done, serve it up and enjoy in the goodness that is lasagna! Crock pot style!
That's how we did it. I love to use my crock pot. I'm glad we have a larger one now. It was a hit! My son gobbled his all up! And my friend brought her kids over so we could share. We all ate it up!

This is a how to, recipe and step by step from my home to you.

  1. That sounds really good! I would add a layer of cottage cheese though. I LOVE cottage cheese in lasagna!
