On Tuesday I decided to use some ribs we got from a free food giveaway on our base. I don't know anything about ribs. They're kind of my husband's thing. But I thought I'd give them a try, and googled some directions for ideas.
They were SO good. If I didn't love my husband so much, I'd say they beat his. But I do... so take that how you want. I got the basic idea from http://steamykitchen.com/11036-baby-back-ribs-recipe-fall-off-bone.html and tweaked it.
What you'll need:
- ribs (we used pork ribs from the giveaway)
- seasonings (brown sugar, garlic powder, cayenne, paprika and cinnamon)
- baking pan
- baking sheet
- sauce of your liking (I used barbecue)
- and aluminum foil
Directions:
- Preheat oven, I did ours to 300F.
- While it's preheating, try to remove the membrane in the back as much as you can (we gave up after some time) and then rub the ribs with the seasonings of your choice. We rubbed ours with brown sugar, garlic powder, cayenne, paprika and cinnamon.
- Place your ribs in your baking pan. We have a huge one, galley sized. Then wrap it with tin foil on the top, making two layers.
- Bake for about 3 - 4 hours, check on it periodically.
- Remove and cover the top of the ribs with sauce. We used barbecue.
- Bake in the oven about 5 minutes (or should I say broil?) but try not to burn the sauce.
- Then remove and wait to cool and dig into them!
After baking in the oven... Ready to be sauced.
Coming out of the oven after covered with barbecue sauce.
The way it fell apart in your mouth, resisting was impossible.
Paired with a side of vegetables - TA DA!
I've never made ribs. So I was happily surprised with the excellent turn out. I'm not the CS my husband is. But I managed!
