Day 44 into Deployment - Recycled Crayons & More.

44 days complete in deployment.
44 long days. And too many days left.

Photo taken before adding our link from yesterday.

Today I attempted recycling crayons twice. The first time in a glass bottle, but all of the colors mixed when I poured them - oops. And then a second time later with muffin tins. Much better results.

The glass after the first attempt.
How those two turned out. Not bad, but still. Used an ice cube tray mold.
Arranging crayons for the second attempt.
 Before.
 All melted!
 After cooling! Aren't they neat?!
And another angle.

First I peeled all of the crayons and then snapped them into small pieces. I preheated the oven to 275 degrees. And I baked them for about 10 minutes. I made sure they had melted before taking them out. After I put them in the freezer for fast cooling and settling. Afterwards, I popped them out of the tin (I had to slide a butter knife on the sides of the two in the middle). FYI the muffin tin was from the local Dollar Store. Score!

Today we also spent some time walking. We walked to our district office to pick up some paperwork for my sister's visit. Then stopped at a friend's house for a little chat since her house was on the way. Then some more walking. I almost forgot about going to the Dollar Store until my friend texted me. Picked up more goodies for my husband's care packages and other odds & ends. I messed up on spray painting a toy box I found on the side of the road earlier. I don't know if I'm going to retry or just toss it. My hands are blue (and Austin's is too after he decided to touch it). I also found one of those horses on springs and some outside toys & more.
See that?! TWO teeth now. Man.
 One of my completed projects.
I just painted a shelf I found for AWS's books.
He has a ton of books right? LOVE BOOKS.
Peyton looking super adorable in a outfit someone gave me the other day.
Outside play in his Dino shirt I picked up on sale for him.
 Fun with play doh.
His masterpiece, a wonderful sculpture from dough, spoons, and crayon pieces.

Another day down.
- Rayne.
